Peter Ledwith grew up in Milton, Ontario and his interest in service station memorabilia and vintage farm equipment can be traced back to when he was 8 or 9 and first attended Steam-Era on Labour Day Weekend at the Milton Fairgrounds. Peter's interest in service station and agricultural history led him to a career as the curator of the Ontario Agricultural Museum where in the early years he spent time picking items for the museum, building the large collection. Along the way, Peter and a group of like-minded individuals began the Canadian Service Station Memorabilia Association, where he is noted as club member #1, was the first editor of the Garage Door News, and also served as club President. Peter was ahead of the curve when it came to collecting. Well before hit television shows such as American Pickers shed a light on the service station memorabilia scene, he was on the road collecting items that caught his eye. Imperial Oil memorabilia and Gilbert and Barker gas pumps became his main collection focus spanning everything from letters, maps, cans, pumps and any other related items. Unfortunately, Peter passed away in 2015 and did not get to finish his retirement project of restoring his collection of gas pumps and appreciating his lifetime work of collecting service station memorabilia. Peter's wife and 2 sons have many fond memories of travelling to swap meets, flea markets, tractor shows and antique stores looking for the next unique piece.
